Puppy Kindergarten/Socialization Classes

The key socialization period for puppies is between the ages of 3 and 12 weeks. If puppies are removed from their littermates and their mother and are kept isolated from other dogs they will miss out on very important communication skills and in essence have trouble “speaking dog” later in life. This can create fear and in some cases aggression as your dog ages. Interacting with other puppies of all different breeds and personalities in a safe environment provides the necessary interaction to develop the natural social skills to raise a comfortable, confident and content puppy. In our experience, lack of socialization during this critical time is one of the major causes of many behavior issues later in life. Proper socialization is the single most important thing for puppies and at the same time the single most neglected activity. Even if your puppy lives in a multiple dog household; in most cases it will not prevent anti-social behavior towards strange dogs later in life.

Our ongoing Puppy Socialization Sessions are held on Tuesday Evenings from 7:00pm to 7:30pm and are only $15 per session. It’s always better to be safe than sorry; bring your pup in for at least one session to see if he/she needs it! Once a puppy has reached the age of 20 to 24 weeks their socialization period is over and will make it very difficult and in most cases too late to be socialized with other dogs.
